"Bill, Daryl, Maurice and myself all flew our PPG's. Gary came out with his homebuilt ultralight, and there was a powered parachute that showed up around 5:00 or so this morning. Everyone flew. Daryl and I flew on Friday evening as well. Maurice came by just about dark and we socialized for a while. Maurice went home and came back with his camping gear so Maurice, Daryl and I camped out in preparation for early morning flying.

Everything was incident free except for two flights. One, on Friday night, I hit sink that took me from about 800 ft or so down to the surface with no way to climb out even at full throttle. It pushed me all the way to the surface for a little harder landing than I ordinarily would enjoy. Bent my cage and chipped the prop. We stopped by an Albertsons when we went for dinner and bought some cyanoacrylate, baking soda, and sandpaper. I fixed my prop nicely with it, then we straightened the cage -- all ready for flying on Saturday morning. Then on Saturday, Daryl was flying down over the CAP canal when his prop belt came loose due to a hardware problem. He managed to surge up to the bank and land with no problems.

Mike and Todd, two four-wheelers were a tremendous help. They saved Daryl and I both from very long walks with our motors by being the first on the scene Friday and Saturday."

See David's Queen Creek Adventure for more details and pictures.

Gary, the pilot flying the white homebuilt Ultra-Light (below) took these pictures (except, of course, the one below):

Cool pics taken from the air of Maurice (me) taking off...

Daryl flying low over the CAP water canal.

Within minutes (if not seconds) of taking this picture, the bolt broke that holds the propeller belt tight. Daryl just barely escaped a wet landing!
